You know what kind of things to expect from a movie like this, an easy-to-watch, entertaining movie with a couple of moving plot points and a happy ending. That was what I expected, and I think most of us also, and that's what we received. Up there, positive points for this movie. The bad thing is that the performances leave much to be desired. The one of Jackman does not arrive to him nor to the ankles to the simple Rocky de Stallone and the one of the boy is, then, a boredom by where it is watched. Finally, I feel that the child / Atom relationship could be much more powerful. Anyway, for these reasons, I do not think this movie deserves more than a five.

It's an interesting tale of a father and son, trying to find and revive a lost relationship. Set in the midst of a sport-of-the-future, Robot- Boxing; where instead of people, remote controlled robotic-machines fight the battle. The story brings up the trying-hard-loser, Charlie Kenton's (Hugh Jackman) survival saga (or so to say) who once was a professional boxer and now fights in the robot-boxing arenas; has been trying to make it through a troubled relationship with Bailey Tallet (Evangeline Lilly) who happens to be his mechanic and his trainer's daughter. During the early stages of the story Charlie finds out that his ex has passed away, leaving his son, Max (Dakota Goyo) behind who he himself had abandoned as a child. And from there on starts a story, which is very similar something you would've seen in couple of the Stallone movies (namely Over the top and Rocky) with only a slight comic-angle, per se. Though the performances and screenplay turn out as extremely entertaining, especially the fight-sequences. One specific is an outlawed arena where Charlie and Max fight their newly found Robot from a junkyard, against an oaf robot within an outlawed arena. The second-half grips pretty well, but is extremely predictable when portraying the typical David-Goliath battle with an almost-rudimentary twist. Overall, a good watch.
